Notebook, pen and coffee — inspiring women over 50 to begin their creative journey

Wondering if it’s too late to start writing...

—and ready to make space for it at last?

Writing from life, memory, creativity, and new beginnings.

You don’t need a perfect book idea, a writing degree, or years of experience to begin.

Sometimes writing starts with something much smaller: a memory you keep returning to, a conversation you can’t forget, a place that stays with you, or the feeling that you’d like to make more room for creativity in your life.

Whether you’re drawn to fiction, reflective writing, or simply curious about where writing might take you, I offer workshops, conversation, and guidance to help you explore your ideas and begin with confidence.

Workshops and writing from life

I offer small-group writing workshops and literary gatherings in Scotland for women who want to explore creativity, story, memory, and writing from life.

Some take place in cafés, bookshops, and gathering spaces, while others gently incorporate walking, landscape, and the natural world as part of the experience.

What if you didn’t have to figure out your novel alone?

Book coaching gives you a sounding board, practical guidance, and dedicated time to focus on your writing.

Whether you’re starting from scratch, trying to shape an idea into something workable, or returning to a project that has stalled, coaching can help you plan your book, untangle problems, build momentum, and keep moving forward.

Sometimes the biggest difference is simply having someone alongside you to ask the right questions and help you see your work more clearly.

'I previously worked as a journalist for many years, writing for titles including The Sunday Times and The Scotsman, but remain relatively new to fiction and so have welcomed Cat’s guidance with enthusiasm and gratitude. Whenever we work together, I’m confident of being in the hands of a professional.

Cat is also an extremely kind and ethical person, and I feel lucky we have found each other.'

— H.F.
